I recently had the chance to step onboard the brand-new Explora III, and from the moment I arrived, it felt very special – luxury cruising done differently!
WHAT A STUNNING SHIP…
The interiors are beautiful, the public spaces feel more like an exceptional luxury hotel than a cruise ship, and there is an incredible sense of space throughout. Even though Explora III is a smaller ship, it never feels crowded – quite the opposite.
Every suite onboard has its own balcony, so there are no inside cabins at all, and that immediately gives you an idea of the level of experience Explora Journeys is aiming for.
This is super-luxury cruising, but without the formality or stuffiness you might associate with traditional luxury travel. The atmosphere is relaxed, stylish and contemporary – somewhere you can completely switch off and enjoy being looked after.
DINING
Dining is a huge part of the experience – there are nine upscale dining experiences onboard, each beautifully designed and offering something different. It really does feel like staying in one of the world’s best hotels, just with the added bonus that the view outside keeps changing.
Explora describes the experience as an “Ocean State of Mind”, and after visiting the ship, I can understand exactly what they mean.
It is an all-inclusive experience on another level — designed around space, service, great food, beautiful surroundings and the chance to travel at a much slower, more luxurious pace.
ITINERARIES
One of the things I particularly like about Explora Journeys is the itineraries. They include more overnight stays in port and longer days ashore, giving you much more time to actually experience a destination rather than simply ticking it off before rushing back onboard.
For me, though, the biggest thing about Explora is that I don’t think it should only appeal to people who already love cruising.
And if cruising has never really appealed to you before, Explora III might just change your mind.
Think of Explora III as a floating luxury hotel.
You wake up somewhere new, head ashore and spend the day exploring, then return to your beautiful hotel to relax, dine, have a drink and be completely pampered while you sail towards your next destination.
And then you wake up and do it all again somewhere completely different.
Although, having seen Explora III, there may be one problem…
You might not actually want to leave the ship!
